Digital Signage: LCD panels dominate the market as CRTs will decline rapidly
If there was no doubt left that flat screens have become the dominant display technology, replacing large, heavy cathode ray tube (CRT), past results and DisplaySearch forecasts in Austin, TX, should put those questions to rest.
In its Q3 '07 Quarterly Worldwide Flat Panel Forecast Report ", the specialist display market research shows that CRTs will account for 5.5 percent of all revenue from view in the quarter, compared to Tft Lcd, which will generate 84.5 percent of all revenue from view. In dollars is $ 20.3 billion for 1.3 billion LCD panel dollars for CRTs worldwide.

As expected, the average unit price for LCD panels fell three percent from quarter to quarter and 16 percent from a year in the second quarter.
For planning networks of digital signage is a point important. LCD prices continue to decline meaning a significant portion of the cost of their networks is declining. These savings can be translated into a variety of benefits potential, including:
Biggest reach: For those considering large networks, lower panel prices may lead to a greater extent. Savings can be spent on other panels to accomplish the primary mission of the network or to fill the secondary and tertiary objectives. For example, a digital signage network originally designed as a game advertising could be extended with signs placed strategically to meet the needs guidance or serve as a card reader for the conference rooms.
Bigger signs: Rather than increasing the number signs in a network, the savings can be used to acquire larger or multiple signs used in combination to create more impact.
Better content: The savings from lower panel prices can also be used to improve the content played on the network. Not only can use the savings to improve the quality of video production, graphics and other visual elements, but they can also be used to add an entirely new dimension to the presentation of the network. For example, the addition of meteorological instruments to detect the temperature readings can be used to trigger the appropriate content to temperature. In a retail store, the conditions specific weather could trigger the digital signage media server to read the ads or sunscreen ears.
Not too long, televisions connected to a VCR or DVD player dominated what was the forerunner of today's digital display market. However, as the numbers of DisplaySearch reveals CRT sales are trailing off, replaced by the LCD panel is quickly becoming ubiquitous.
Consumers are voting every day with their dollars for LCD TVs, and as they are creating a mass market with mass market economies of scale that benefit those who develop digital signage networks. Choose wisely how to use these economies may take the success of their digital signage networks to new heights.
