Flat screens and how they work
It is difficult even to imagine back in the day when we had these huge bulky monitors who had so much room on our desks. There is no doubt that flat screens are a huge improvement on the old bulky monitors.
But what has changed? Why are we able to have such a smaller screen now, and how they have even a better picture in most cases? The difference is one of the technologies. Older monitors, also known as CRT, had vacuum tubes, such as TVs have not flat these days. Vacuum tubes are an old school way of conducting electricity, and in this case, to present an image through charges electric.
However, very little running on vacuum tubes these days. In fact, we have moved from vacuum tubes for transistors in chips now. The advent of microarrays, combined with LCD display, or LCD, technology, enables us now watch television, use our computers, and even our mobile phones look different.
With LCD, it is no need for much space in the back of the screen for electron tubes or vacuum tubes that move. Now fleas just say the different parts of the liquid crystal display, or pixels, the display mode.
An LCD monitor is composed a backlight and a polarizing sheet of glass, then a layer of colored pixels. After that comes the solution (liquid crystal display part LCD). It reacts to a grid coordinate sent by the computer to the monitor. These particles will open or close when sending stimuli of varying degrees of electric charges. This allows light to pass through the color pixels to illuminate the screen, giving you the color of the image.
If you were able to look closely enough (and you can not with your naked eye), you would see that your LCD monitor does not display contiguous, but rather is composed of tiny pixels, each corresponding to a different color. We see this as a display together because they are so small.
Think of it this way - the old vacuum tube televisions had pixels, too, but they must be further apart due to limitations old technology. Remember what it looks like when you're too close to a big screen television? He became distorted because the pixels are then apart, and you could actually see them. Same concept here, except that there is no way you can get close enough to a flat screen to see the pixels.
Since the screen is better and has more pixels packed in a flat screen, you can even see the angles no longer displayed, because your brain is still processing as a complete image. In addition, the colors are richer because there is literally more of each color.
There are serious benefits. One, they use far less electricity. As mentioned above, they also use far less space, and the image is better. If you're still using an old CRT monitor, throw that thing (in fact, Please recycle!) and get a flat screen!
