LN-T4681F 1080p BuyingSamsung 46-inch LCD with backlight LED
So far, so good. Finally took the plunge for an HD set.
I finally took the plunge for a all HD. When I set up my home theater - HD _just_ had come on the market. Some early CRT HDTVs are available, but the specification was not quite there, and certainly the availability of content was very low. The sets have been _very_ expensive. So I just opted for a high-end Standard Def. all of Sony.
Things were very long.
Then the LCD sets came on the market. The sellers wanted more money for what was, in my view, an image of lower quality. CRT sets base were quickly abandoned - not necessarily because the LCD technology was superior (It certainly was not) - but because these series are much less floor space on a floor auditorium. The poor representation of color, and pixelation and motion blur LCD me off, and Plasma is not much better. I could not see spending more money for a worse picture, even if the game has benefits in terms of physical space and energy savings.
Well, fast forward to today. After have looked on several Samsung models - I ended up buying this set. This is far from being the best "available" to this stage - but given the price and quality is quite good. The black levels on this set are amazing (none of this dark gray = black). Color representation is excellent. And so far, saccades and motion blur seems acceptably low.
Hi-definition sports broadcasts look amazing. NHL and NBA (currently in season) are fantastic - the glare of the ice or court, or reflections on the glass barrier is really something to see.
The X-Box 360 is fantastic in 1080p - and video games seem to have no real difference between the control and update the action screen.
The 3:2 pulldown, movie mode (24 fps) looks pretty good so far. Various DVD (not Blu-Ray yet) looking almost as Hi-Def over-sampled (several guests were surprised that it was not really a source Hi-Def).
All in all, pleasantly satisfied with this set and look forward to many years of pleasure.

Get it while it lasts
Best LCD I've seen so far, without exception. I did my homework for some time and found the 81F series at a hidden treasure. This being the 2007 series LED-backlit, it was $ 1,000 less expensive than the 2008 Samsung LN46A950 (120Hz). Fortunately, I got mine in time: the 2009 series Samsungs Luxia LNXXB8000 (240Hz), and have no local LNXXB7000 LNXXB6000 LED dimming! What is the point of having an LED backlight? Take your A950 and 81F series, while you can.
Only an idiot notable quality sound. Certainly not a deal breaker, but you'll certainly want to depend on the internal speakers.
Insanely great televeision
Samsung has created a thing of beauty with online TV is LED-LCD. Blacks on phenomenal and when used in conjunction with a Samsung Blu-Ray player, it works perfectly as a product. When you turn off the TV, Blu-Ray is in standby mode when the TV is off and you insert a movie, the TV lights, while the Blu-Ray begins to load ... a stunner. I advise caution with regard vendors and shippers.

If you look at the new Sony XBR8, you will find all the features of the Samsung LN-T4681F imitated three times the current price of the Samsung. Sony has not only copied the backlight LED but they also elected to copy the design of the Samsung LN-T4681F bezel.
If you really want a true black LED backlit set LN-T4681F provide is an incredible bargain at current clearance price. Although I've had mine for a month that everyone saw that he was surprised the image quality. ISF certified technician who performed the color calibration after the final burn-in has commented that the 81F has been the first LCD set to approach the image quality and black levels of plasma sets from Pioneer Kuro.
The Cherry the cake is that the backlight LED uses much less electricity than the cold cathode and LCD sets much less than plasma Pioneer Kuro and LED should survive the television itself as well.
