Repair Only
Will my insurance to pay for the cost of repairing the damage if I do the repairs or not, or only after the repair?
I dependence had a damaged due to extreme weather conditions and the insurance company has accepted my request. If I had to decide not to repair the building and do something else is the insurance company instead still required to pay for what it would cost to repair of the building?
Owner of most policies have a provision stroke, even if the replacement cost on your poilicy. They pay only ACV (Actual Cash Value "or an amount amortized) over a certain dollar amount and the balance (NA, replacement cost or the depreciated value refundable) after repairs are completed and paid. Thus, if your policy states that the LCA threshold is $ 2,500 and your repairs are being that they would generally pay the entire amount. If your repairs are on the threshold of $ 2,500, you get only a partial control until you repair the damage and show paid receipts / have inspected the property. If your contract will be stroke only, you never get a amortized amount. Look in your policy a section entitled "Loss Settlement", which summarize what they pay and how.
