Projector Mount

Optoma HD20 1080p Projector Home Goodness for budget-minded!
I first wrote this comment on another site, and now that I had more time with this projector I added and changed a few things and I'm reposting the review on Amazon. I think more people will look at Amazon for the purchase of this projector, especially since the other site is it not lower. Hopefully this review helps those of you who are on the edge on buying this projector.
Advantages: Good looking, polished finish white. Low fan noise in normal bulb. 4000 hours of lamp life exceeds eco most projectors! Good enough for use in fashion Light for use with lights in the room. In the darkness, it seems just incredible!
1080p content looks very good. Blu-ray played from a PS3 (or other Blu-ray) look awesome. I watched Kung Fu Panda and has been "seduced" by what you can see on a screen much wider. I just watched Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on her last night and I was surprised the details and I noticed things I did not even notice when I saw in IMAX. This could be because you have in IMAX such an incredibly huge screen that you miss things that you might not have noticed before, since you have to turn the head to look at the screen whole. However, the Blu-ray content is amazing with this projector. I find it very difficult to believe that you can buy this for less than $ 1,000.
The Video games look awesome. It works well with the PS3 and 360 consoles. You get a huge advantage over other players when you can see from afar, even before you could see on an HDTV standard. It all depends of course on the size of the screen you are using. I'm on a 92 "diagonal screen EliteScreens white. Not the biggest of screens, but I manage for a year or two until I get the money for a good fixed screen.
When you use my PS3 with my TV I put the RGB color spectrum limited scope in the display options on the PS3. On the TV, with the implementation on full, it would be much too dark and black out details in shadows too. On this projector you can activate the full range and use the full range and you give better blacks and whites in this way. If you turn the projector on the bright predefined (non-high lamp mode), you can blind by Whites this thing is capable of in the dark. bright setting should be used when you have lots of atmosphere light fight with. Otherwise, movies, reference or your own custom settings using a calibration disc is probably the best.

There are many options for dealing brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. Everything you see on the HDTV being seems to be a setting you can change here. Personally, I find the movie mode is about perfect for use in dark environments where you can extinguish all the lights and watch a movie. Sharpness is used differently on the projector, then it is on many HDTVs. With my TV I took the sharpness to zero, because all he did was to add pixels to make the image sharper and it would effectively remove the realism of the image. On the projector at the default is 7 and if you lower you actually soften the image and will negatively effect the sharpness. I found the sweet spot at 10. When the value of 10 I get very sharp, crisp text search in all games and my best photos to the air and then setting the default value of 7. While below 7 would be too soft and disturb us ... like looking through a water covered the windshield.
The Optoma has automatic shutoff that you can adjust. By default I think it is off. I set mine for 15 minutes. This feature automatically shut off the projector after no signal is detected for "xx" number of minutes. Very useful if you are not alone in using the projector and have fears of friends / family letting on.
Disadvantages: I have been accustomed to use a Samsung 46 "TV LN46A650 model, and then go to this, there is a difference very noticeable black level. You will not get the deep blacks with this projector that you can on a good HDTV, but thankfully it does not ruin the experience. Show detailed black level is there, what is good, it just does not produce black ink. It's more of a tint very dark gray. I messed around with Digital Video Blu-ray Essentials for the contrast / brightness adjustments for some time. I was unable to obtain any line chart to display. Let the whites are too bright or washed out and too dark of force would become too dark and the white sections to get dark. The projector seemed about correct settings with out-of-the-box on the film.
I do not mess with the deepest menu such as gamma, and movie modes, or try to change the colors yet. I am not known for self-calibration, so do not take my word for it, but I failed part much better contrast then it is already out-of-the-box.
Auto-focus would have been an attractive option. This is not a major problem if you get this projector mounted and will not to take it further. You can find just the right place and leave it there, and it should go. On that note, if you plan to leave this on a coffee table, it will probably work well. At first I tried to mount this shelf projector to avoid having to buy ceiling mounting. I got about 5 feet on the ground and I could not get a picture I was happy. I had to angle it down by turning the back legs when they were in full extension and adding a few cases Slim CD to raise the back even further. I adjusted key centerpiece of every course and it was always off and looked like a trapezoid. Unless you plan to use it within 3 feet of the ground, I expect to a ceiling mount that baby! There is a warning to anyone who asks about it.
None of my disadvantages knock a star on my review if this wonderful product. You can not really say too much negative stuff on a 1080p projector for under $ 1000!
I am very glad I bought this! At first I was afraid that 92 "might be too big for me, sitting about 9.5m away, but have used some time now, it is perfect. The projector uses up to 300 "screen, I can not wait until I move into my first house and have a nice area to set up a 150" screen! I think this would be the idea.
*** Update ***
I now owned of this for about five months, and I have not encountered any problem with him. I have over 300 hours of use on the bulb now. Once the bulb has had the proper time to break (200 +) you will notice a better black level than when it was brand new. I still have not referrals to the performance of this projector. Everything has been fantastic. You really get all your money dollars with this sub-$ 1,000 HD projector. I not been to the movies in the theater at all this year and I was the guy who usually went almost every Friday. I can stay home and get the same experience today.
