What is the audio input on an HDTV if the input is for an HDMI cable?
Well if I have this TV HD, which supports several different entries. An entry for your standard composite cables, the second is for component cables, another is a VGA port with audio input, and one is for an HDMI cable and audio input. My question is, if an HDMI cable already passes both video and audio to the TV (I tested it with my xbox 360), then why is there a need for separate audio input? best response to the response the most detailed and informative.
BEFORE HDMI ... there was DVI. DVI is video only entry, and had a separate audio connector. DVI was for one year, when we redid the connector to include audio with the video signal. Thus was born HDMI The DVI signal is actually the same video interface HDMI uses ... So if you have an old cable box with DVI output, you can connect your HDMI with a DVI to HDMI adapter, and use an HDMI cable to stream video to your TV. Can you use an RCA cable for audio to your TV. While DVI is rare, it is preferable to include the connection on the TV series.
