Digital Tuner
A TV tuner is a device that allows stations to television signals to be received by a computer. They can also act as capture cards video that can record TV programs in
hard disk memory.
TV tuner cards are available in four different types. They are analog tuners, digital tuners, hybrid tuners and tuners combo. The analog tuners are cheaper and ideal for viewing live and are suitable not for video recording. It uses more system memory when used for recording.
The digital tuner gives viewers a quality digital audio and video record TV programs in MPEG format. The hybrid tuner can also be used as the digital tuner and switching between TV and the way the system is fairly simple.
The combo tuner has two different tuners which can record and not the other can play live TV. Its flexibility to be used as well as digital and analog tuners and cost, it is more popular today one days.
Another interesting fact is that the TV tuner can also act as an FM radio since the two frequencies are too close to each other.
Here are some tips for buying a TV tuner card:
• Make sure you can receive digital broadcast signals in your area.
• Select the tuner that you prefer. Whether internal or external one.
• See if it has a remote control.
• Check characteristics such as CD burning and schedule recordings.
• Do comparison shopping because the price of a TV tuner varies considerably with local stores.
